This book is incredible.

After attending Islamic School for nine years, teaching at weekend school for six, and continuously looking to further my knowledge of the Seerah my whole life, I can honestly say that I have never come across a book as comprehensive and fantastically well-put as this. This book provides students and teachers alike with a thorough understanding of who our Prophet (S) was in a simple yet detailed matter. It is highly contextualized in a way that allows everything that happens in his life to make more sense, and the visuals and commentary add so much to the dynamic reading experience in a way I never found in any other book.

It's just a beautiful read. I've never, ever come across a book like it. Do yourself, your family, your students, your friends, your pet hamster a favor- read this book. And then read it again. And if you walk away knowing the Prophet (S) even a little bit better- know that your life has changed for the better.

This is an in depth story of the life of the prophet Muhammad laid out in an easily understandable format with wonderful references from the Quran and bible. If you are serious about learning about Islam or if you are just curious, this is the book to begin with and take along with you on a journey through the life of one of the most influential men in history.

The story of the Prophet, the seerah of "Revelation", really is a story of transformation. Transforming one's heart, mind, and then actions. If you come to this book with a sincere perspective and study how did transformation occur within the Prophet, his companions, Arabia, and the world--you will ultimately understand that each person is capable of complete transformation to something better and greater-something closer to the truest nature that God had intended for each human being. You will be able to see for yourself what it took for those in the past to achieve this transformation, and what it requires of you. But in order for that to happen, you have to look inward and take yourself into account as you study how did the Prophet and companions take themselves into account.

Reading this book has been an emotionally powerful experience. It is the only seerah book that allows the reader to connect the dots between the prophetic traditions and draw parallels between the past to the present to you yourself. Through the diagrams, notes, commentary and summaries, you get a complete picture and understanding of the Prophet's life, every step of the way. Questions that come along in your head are already there for you to think about and ponder. The comprehensive study of the subject matter and explanations of what happened and why from different scholars really paints a full picture of who the prophet was and still is. You can see and understand his perspective, the companion's perspective, and the community's perspective at the time. It was through all of these presentations that I was also able to also connect the dots within my own life experiences and see what does it take for me to transform into a different, improved version of myself-something closer to what God had hopefully intended for me.

The Saga Continues....

This was a good book. It answered some questions I had regarding the first issue, and set the stage for the next chapter. The writing was excellent, as can be expected from Frank Miller, and the artwork was good as well. I have some ideas as to what's going to happen in this saga, but I'll just have to wait to see just how things turn out!

It is good readable, well structured and conscientious researched

"Sweet Burdens" is an important book. It gives a deep insight into the lives of Russian-Jewish immigrants who came over the last two decades to Germany. The main focus lies on the first generation of addult immigrants, which turns out to be a kind of lost generation. I was very impressed by this book. It is good readable, well structured and conscientious researched. I wish the book a lot of readers - not only from academia but from activists and social workers in the Jewish Communities too.

Sweet burdens is a serious and thorough study of some important aspects of recent Russian Jews emigration to Germany. However, I've found a lot more here. Dr Roberman has really fundamental insights on happiness and self esteem of a human being in modern westernized
Society. In spite of rather sad consequences, one can feel the warmth with which the interviewees are described, this makes the book more than a scientific one.

About the Author

Since its establishment in 1922, the American Football Coaches Association has striven to provide a forum for the discussion and study of all matters pertaining to football and coaching and to maintain the highest possible standards in football and the coaching profession. These objectives, first declared by founders Alonzo Stagg, John Heisman, and others, have been instrumental in the AFCA's becoming the effective and highly respected organization it is today.

The AFCA now has more than 10,000 members, including coaches from Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, and Russia. Through annual publications and several newsletters, the association keeps members informed of the most current rules changes and proposals, proper coaching methods, innovations in techniques, insights in coaching philosophy, and business conducted by the board of trustees and AFCA committees. A convention is held each January to give members a special opportunity to exchange ideas and recognize outstanding achievement.

The association promotes safety in the sport and establishes strong ethical and moral codes that govern all aspects of football coaching. After buying it and reading it, I can see both reviewer's points. The concepts of playing defense are included in this book, but it does include alot of stuff about defenses that are not played as much today (60, 76, 5-2, 5-3, etc.) in higher levels.

This book is not geared to stop newer offenses, like the West Coast, spread-styles, or pro-style pass oriented attacks. It is essentially combined from articles written in the '60s-'80s, when teams were more run-oriented. As such, the examples shown are good for playing run defense against option offenses like the veer, Wing-T, and various forms of the Bone and other pro-sets (2-backs).

In the lower levels, this book would be very useful, but its application to newer passing offenses is limited and not very helpful. One would need to supplement the information here with books geared to defending these offenses.

Strengths: The book broadly covers most of the elements of defensive football strategy. Most defensive approaches that have been attempted successfully in the last 40 years are reviewed and explained. Football coaches, especially at the HS level where the athletes' practice time is limited, will appreciate the book's simplicity and its ability to convey the essence of a particular defensive approach. Do these philosophies work? They have, in various forms, for decades.
Weaknesses: The strength of the book is also its primary weakness. It covers so much material that nothing is covered in detail, and coaches seeking the finer points of a particular defensive scheme may have to look elsewhere for assistance. Some of the newer defensive philosophies, especially the incredibly specialized schemes used in the pro ranks (defensive ends dropping off into coverage in short zones, linebackers who only play in running situations, or cornerbacks involved in intricate blitz schemes) are not covered. HS coaches will probably not have the time or athletic talent to indulge in that level of detail anyway.
As for the critique that defensive schemes designed to stop offenses from the 1960s don't belong in the book, I would beg to differ. In many areas of the country, especially the deep south, HS football coaches still employ the offensive systems in which they themselves played in decades before. Perhaps the most prominent example is the use of the triple-option out of a wishbone formation, once a staple of college football (Oklahoma and Alabama in the 1970s), never used in the pro ranks and abandoned by almost all college teams except the Air Force Academy and the Naval Academy. It was not unusual to find Tennessee HS football teams still running this offense through the 1990s. In this regard, the book's coverage of defenses designed to stop antiquated offensive game plans is a strength at the HS level.

This book is great! Has anything a defensive coach could ever want. I bought this book, because I wanted to get different ideas on what coaches thought about defense. It has helped me learn what defense I want my players running. Very easy to follow with all the diagrams and descriptions of the defenses.

Outstanding masterpiece

This book is absolutely mandatory reading for anyone such as I, who at age 81 is still trying to get his act together. After reading Jim Jensen's powerhouse "how to" book, I finally understand why a nice guy such as I had three unsuccessful marriages, in spite of decades of great corporate success. Now that I understand, I can stop beating myself up about it. His subject is one we guys usually stay away from, to our detriment. After reading just the first three chapters, plus the last chapter on "Enlightenment," and the section on the "Perils of Perfectionism," I knew I was home. Why? Because this guy writes the way guys can understand - not that the messages do not have meaning for both `flavors' - but it really speaks to men. Further there is not one whiff of Dr. Phil's saccharine tripe or phony pink smoke in this masterpiece. I have already bought copies for my sons, and granddaughters. As an author myself, I know how difficult it is to write it straight and simple so that the reader "gets it" the first time. "Beyond the Power of Your Subconscious Mind" is on my nightstand because I read it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. On a 1-5 scale, it is a +15. Yes, it is that outstanding.

The greatest masterpiece on the human mind to date

I've been a believer, working at mastering-my-mind/watching the thinker, for about 6 years now. It started from watching 'The Secret', then turned into a knowledge obsession, which brought me to buying 100's of books on personal growth, success, and religious texts. I am not saying this for a small ego boost, but more so to let you know that I have searched high and low through all the leaders of their respected industry that I had ever heard of. Napoleon Hill, Stephen Covey, Tony Robbins, W Clement Stone, Jack Canfield, Zig Ziglar, and many others that I would label 'masters', and yet still, 'Beyond The Power of Your Subconscious Mind', is, in my opinion, the greatest masterpiece on the human mind to date. It is the ABC's of success and happiness for all aspects of life, never has there before been such a unifying book that brings together all the puzzle pieces in the realm of study, proves it all scientifically, lays out simple how-to's, and connects it all with a message of love and spiritual truths. No matter your age, sex, or culture, this book will speak sympathetically to the exact place that you are in your life. I consider this the page-for-page greatest sacred(truth) text I have ever come into contact with. This book gave me complete confidence in the untapped power of our minds, and every time I turn a page, it is thrilling because that level of certainty in the power of belief becomes more cemented. This is why I will continue to read 'Beyond The Power of Your Subconscious Mind' over and over for months, and years to come-Buy the book so you can do the same. I promise that it will be, by far, the greatest investment you have ever made.

The Golden Key to Freedom

Beyond The Power of The Subconscious Mind, by C. James Jensen, is a masterful update and important addition to the classic work of Dr. Joseph Murphy's original landmark book which created the foundation for Omega Seminars. In the foreword by Dr. Lee Pulos, the essence of this philosophy is clearly summarized: "We create what we focus or concentrate on, and our beliefs are largely responsible for the areas in which we focus most attention. Our experiences then will follow our focus, beliefs, expectations and intention".

Expanding on Murphy's great creation is no small undertaking, but Jensen has done an admirable job. Again quoting Dr. Pulos, Jensen's update has included "..integrating current neuroscience, psychological theory and research". Jensen illuminates the three aspects of manifestation as "desire", "expectation" and "imagination", which is in perfect harmony with the teachings of Neville Goddard and every other great thinker who has dared to challenge the prevailing trends of entrenched mainstream science and psychology, i.e., we are the product of our genes and/or socialization.

The work of C. James Jensen offers practical techniques and formulas for application in every area of life but most importantly, this book supports the principle that we can create our destiny by mastering our inner life. This is the golden key to freedom. Beyond The Power of The Subconscious Mind is an excellent book for thoroughly understanding and using this key to create a magnificent life for ourselves and our world.
