OK Programmer's Guide, obscenely overpriced

It's a decent textbook -- not that crazy well written, but adequate, good for a newbie, no two ways about it. I will however bring the starrage down to only three stars because of the price. How can you justify spending a hundred+ on this book when you can go to the Rockwell website and download a huge amount of documentation from there for absolutely nothing? Yes, those .pdfs are not textbooks, they are more like reference manuals, but that said, they're put together pretty well -- you _can_ learn from them. Go to literature dot rockwellautomation dot com, click on "Programmable Controllers" and then on "ControlLogix System", and you're home free -- I just saved you a hundred bucks.

Start from the publication titled "Logix5000 Controllers Common Procedures" (1756-pm001_-en-e.pdf). This pub is a sort of Table of Contents listing all other publications covering 1756 (ControlLogix) programming; books like, for example, "Add-On Instructions" (1756-PM010) or "Programming: Relay Ladder" (1756-PM008). All are available for free download from the literature page. It's thousands of pages of well-written documentation (Allen-Bradley have always had very good manuals... in fact you used to get printed copies, back in the day, shall we say). This book here is a compressed version of all these riches -- once again, it's not bad by any means, and if it cost thirty bucks, I'd give it 4.5 stars and recommended the purchase since it's a bit newbie-friendlier than the AB docs. But the book is very overpriced and I don't recommend you spend this money on it: get free manuals instead, it's good info, decently written, free, and it's twenty times more of it.

Bottom line: get this only if you can get it for a third of the price; better yet start with free docs on the Rockwell literature site -- I bet that'll be all you ever need (the subject is no rocket science to begin with). Don't be a victim of the college-textbook racket; charging $100+ for that book here is daytime robbery. Ef em, use the net.

A "must have" for the non-genius!

I have worked with older AB plc platforms for years, but our plant installed new equipment using Compact Logix brand. This new platform is quite different than anything previous. I had basically no idea how to use the tag system, or to navigate around the program in general. After reading this book for 30 minutes I was navagating like a pro, and starting to really understand the power of the tag based system. Will this book make me a Plc5000 programming genuus? The answer is probably not, but I allready feel like I can handle 90% of any issues that come up, and have been sucessful adding tags, and I/O.

The enclosed CD has a bunch of short examples, and I found it to be very informative. This book is a definite must have for every industrial electrician!

About the Author

Sugata Bose is Gardiner Professor of History at Harvard University. His publications include Peasant Labor and Colonial Capital (1993) in The New Cambridge History of India series and A Hundred Horizons: The Indian Ocean in the Age of Global Empire (2006).

Ayesha Jalal is Mary Richardson Professor of History at Tufts University. Her publications include Self and Sovereignty: Individual and Community in South Asian Islam since 1850 (2000) and Partisans of Allah: Jihad in South Asia (2010).

A Tool for Your Asian History Search for Knowledge

How much do you really know about Asian history? If you are like a lot people, that answer might be little to none. A great resource for you to have is Sugata Bose and Ayesha Jalal's Modern South Asia: History, Culture, Political Economy.

Within this academic book, you will discover much about the history of the different areas of Southern Asia. This book does not just take one area or one aspect. It tries to give an all encompassing view of the history where anyone could come from any background to read and understand more about the history of what we see as an exotic area.

The book is divided into a multitude of chapters which are needed to cover such an expansive topic. Each chapter is then broken down into smaller sections making it easier to read, absorb the information, and for research use.

This is an academic book. It is not written in a style to enjoy jut in one afternoon. You need to really want to learn this material to read it.

I did love the fact that the book contained visual images for the visual learner I am. There are pictures and maps to help understand the text better. The best part of the book, in my opinion is the glossary that is at the end of the text. Many of the names of people and places is hard to pronounce if one is not familiar withe the language much less understanding many of the words associated with the culture. This glossary is a great addition I used quite a bit. There is also a time line of events to help get your mind wrapped around the entire history. In addition there is an extensive bibliography for more research and notes that academically come one handy.

A good you need to have in your library if you are interested in Asian history.

Note: This book was part of a college course the author was in.

Akroyd has been removed by Yahweh. She has intentional leaving quotations off the work to make people believe she wrote it. She's no longer part of the holy family. Other things she was ousted, but this pertains the book she claimed to authored.

nothing christian about this book

In this age we are constantly fighting against the teachings of things that "itches the ears" (2 Tim 4:3-4). The Chosen is a book that claims to be christian yet a majority of its claims go directly against God's word. Diana Akroyd, the chosen has personal visits and additional revelations of truth from angels. I think she has been visited but not from angels of God. She totally discounts the possibility, and the warnings of many scriptures, that these visits could be from those pretending to be angels of light. The bible warns that even the elect will be deceived - what greater indication that one is a false teacher is that they say they are never wrong, just like Diana does. The main problem is that she will not take biblical correction or reproof (which the bible commands). She wont even discuss or dispute her "out of context" scripture usage. Diana states that its all real and her experiences are proof that everything is from God and therefore true. Unfortunately the bible says the heart is deceitfully wicked and not to be trusted. Anyway take a look at just some of the claims that Diana makes. I went over her website and there is just too much false teaching. They include...

1. Angels will kill people here on earth after the rapture = no biblical support

2. Claims there is no one Holy Ghost, but multiple holy ghosts = heresy

3. Claims that in the next 2 years the earth will be bankrupt = if this doesnt come to pass she is a false prophet

4. "We do not debate the Scriptures" = the bible says the opposite, be like the Bereans; besides the bible says its useful for correcting and reproof but the author chooses not to heed this command

5. Says she doesnt want to sell the book for money but she has no choice - YES YOU DO, PUT IT INTO PDF FORMATE AND GIVE IT AWAY!

6. Claims to have 70 spirit guides surrounding her at all times - no scripture says christians are to have spirit guides

7. Claims that she is a "Chosen" one to disseminate truth and that the "Messenger" only comes around every generation = there is no office, agent or duty like this seen in the bible (can you say FALSE TEACHING?)

8. her angel pictures look like they are made with KY Petroleum Jelly - i would make a recreation on my window but it would be a waste of good PJ and its hard to clean up.

The author says she was into Psychics, Astrology, Nostradomus, Palm Reading, Past Lives and Past Life Regression, Soul Mates, Star Seeds, Witchcraft, Tarot Cards, Tea Leafs, Numerology, The Bible Code, Buddhism, Wicca, Paganism, demonology and more, but its funny how there is no evidence of any gospel message that includes the sin, repentance, confession or believing in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Heck the author never says that she repented of any of her past actions in the occult even tho almost all of her experiences are denounced in the bible as witchcraft, divination and idolatry against God). The bible never says that personal experience trumps the doctrines and teachings found in the bible. Oh well I wish there was truth in advertising because this is not a Christian book at all.

My hopes are that you stick to God's word, examine yourself daily and search the scriptures like the Bereans in order to stay on the narrow path of salvation, and to help others that wander off on the road that leads to destruction. Remember last of all the bible says...

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed."

Chosen: End Times Truths Revealed is an amazing book. In this book you will find behind the scene accounts on the Spiritual War that is being fought daily between good and evil forces. Ms. Akroyd explains in great depth what the Spiritual War is and what it means for us. Ms. Akroyd gives a clear and concise understanding of the Spirit Realm, Angels and Demons and the Spiritual War that is being fought both there and in the physical realm that cuts through all the myths and legends believed by so many people today. Scriptural references are also given throughout the book that ties everything together in one nice neat package and answers many questions that we've all had at one time or another in regards to our spirituality and mortality. Regardless of your religious beliefs or lack thereof, there is something for everyone in this book because it covers a wide variety of subjects and flows nicely as the author takes you through her personal journey of enlightenment.

You would never have guessed that there where so many trees surrounding your home-town if you stayed on Earth. Zoom out a little and the view becomes higher. Now you see mountains and seas. You apprehend more because you are high. When you come back down, try explaining what you have seen to your friends. Chances are, if your friends have never risen to those heights themselves, they won't believe you. You will then get thrown into the cooking pot!

You flew too high and they dragged you back down. You looked down into the DMT flash, you witnessed grandeurs beyond grandeurs, chasms over chasms, deeps beyond deeps. Just like in mathematics where there are infinitudes of higher orders infinitely transcending lower infinities, so the phenomenon of consciousness can no longer be seen at sparks firing from living meat. Erwin Schrodinger, the father of quantum physics, believed this; no, he knew this, and this is why he would finish his lectures by declaring, "Hence I am God Almighty" to the local Church congregation, and he ended up winning the Nobel prize (though not for thinking that he was God, I am happy to say). We cannot all be Nobel's and we cannot all feel our divinity because we cannot all be like Anthony Peake and so what is left for you and I is to hitching a ride on the Brahma O Mamma Matrix, and dive in to one of Anthony Peake's books

Anthony Peake stumbled upon his path by ignoring the never-ending chatter of tongues and swords and the crackling of flames bellowing out of the organs of mass culture. Instead, he took the advice of Socrates and accepted that I knew nothing; this is when the real wisdom begins. I suggest we all do the same!

A must-read book for anyone interested in the pineal gland

This is a must-read publication for anyone who is interested the long overlooked pineal gland. Of course the pineal gland secretes melatonin and it has long been suspected to secrete the psychoactive chemical DMT. Just after the publication of this book it was verified that the pineal gland of rodents does indeed produce DMT and it is most likely true for the human pineal gland as well, since human and rodent endocrine systems are very similar and the pineal gland of both species are made up of the same types of cells. This is opens a whole new dimension in the understanding and significance of the pineal gland which Mr. Peake approaches in a very methodical way. He first follows the thread of history and how the pineal gland has been held in high prominence in most advanced cultures since ancient times. He then presents present day medical and scientific research on the pineal gland and its connection to DMT, consciousness, biophotonic light, DNA intercommunication and quantum field phenomena. The pineal gland may indeed prove to be a "third eye"; just what it views, how it views and where it takes the viewer is the subject of a great deal of speculation. The Infinte Mindfield does an excellent job of presenting and explaining the many mysteries that surround the pineal gland, and this book is worthwhile reading for anyone who is interested in what may prove to be a new frontier for the human race.

Excellent and riveting guide to the psyche and cosmic consciousness

This is the fifth book by Anthony Peake which I have bought and thoroughly enjoyed reading.

As always, Peake is able to act as a riveting guide to the exploration of consciousness and the human and transcendent psyches.

As in his other books he blends science with an earnest and probing Socratic method which respects both empirical data and the human experience; this eclectic approach is what I have always admired in Peake's writing.

Phenomena Magazine has called this book "a classic in the making" and has said that it ought to be "required reading" for all who wish to understand better our consciousness and perception. They spoke truth. I highly, highly recommend this book.
