Great catalog-like soft-cover book

A great soft cover short story book of all Ferrari's Super-Cars, followed by basic details of the LaFerrari exterior, interior and power plants. All what I was looking for in a beautiful catalog-like book. Great passion and love for details. Now, the only thing missing, seeing one of those wonders on the road - which will be rare / very rare ...

I personally do not own a Ferrari or Lamborghini but I down an American Supercar.
This book is fantastically done. Pictures are like you are there really great really nice.
You can see the making of the latest great Ferrari icon the Ferrari LaFerrari, the mules, the scales of the Hypercar.
This is money well spent.

A good book to add to your restoration library

I was looking for a Beetle version of the rust repairs shown in such good detail in the "How to Restore Volkswagen Bus (Enthusiast's Restoration Manual) by Mark Paxton".

This Beetle book does cover some of the same details but not nearly as much as I had hoped. I'll use the reconstruction techniques detailed in the VW Bus book coupled to the Beetle book.

Still, worth the study/read. I have about a dozen books for my Beetle and Bus and the books combined cover just about everything a person would like to know about a ground up restoration. (I love books.)

A very good review of body work

The book pulls no punches about how easy it isn't(!) to restore an old bug. But, it has lots of very good color pictures of real cars (not the pristine shots you get in shop manuals). And, the writer gives anecdotes about his experiences working on cars, what to look for in one, and when to walk away because it's likely hopeless. Sadly, his anecdotes are nowhere near as good as the Muir book. And, you really have to think twice because the entire book is written in British English (you'll be calling a wrench a "spanner" by the time you're through with it). Overall a very good purchase, even at the somewhat high price.

Nicely told story of redemption

Thirteen years ago, Thad's world imploded. He finally told his best friend, Haydin, that he loved him. For that, he got punched in the face and cursed out. Called horrible names. Then, when he got home, he made the mistake of telling his parents what happened. And got thrown out for being gay. He left his Kentucky home for California.

Now an investigative reporter, he is recovering from wounds suffered by a deranged rapist he managed to track down. In constant pain, at least he can walk. And now, his parents have died and he is called home to Kentucky to bury them and see to the estate. Whatever that may be - he thought himself disinherited.

Upon his return home, he finds he is the owner of his father's company, which is now highly successful and worth millions. The guardian of his teen sister. And to his surprise, and dismay, he will have to deal with the CEO of company. Who is none other than Haydin.

When he sees Haydin out in public kissing his lover, his very MALE lover, it is more than he can bear. Almost breaks his heart. With a heavier hand this would be melodramatic and angsty. But she has reined herself in and let the story tell itself. And a wonderful story it is. Love. Betrayal. Redemption. Tragedy.

Well done. I hope to see more from Ms. Guiliano.

Been There Done Fat is a semi autobiographical adventure from childhood to adulthood in his ever challenging battle of the bulge culminating with his adventures at Southern Trails Fat Farm.

Been There , Read it and want to Recommend IT !!!

I stumbled across this book while searching for something to read while on vacation. The title was interesting and the book's description seemed humorous. But then again , haven't we heard the losing weight stories and the foibles of the protagonist's friends.

Definitely not the case with this book. The author writes as if he's telling me the story and that individual narration drew me in. I actually wanted to meet the author and the character's for a burger and a beer. They were that real.

I read the entire book while lounging around the pool and then took it down to the beach to finish it. The story was interesting, believable and very humorous. The characters were real and I am sure I sure a few of them back home.

I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

And thank goodness for Betty Crocker, for without her the author may never have written this book.

I have struggled with my weight for years. It's always been a roller coaster ride.

When I saw the cover of the book, I thought I was looking at myself. I had to read it.

As I started reading, I thought it would be a comedy all the way through. The author drew me in right away. When he start taking about his family I was hooked. Coming from a Italian family I could relate. But the author wasn't(you will have to read the book *hint: Challah Bread). Maybe that's what we have in common; bread.

This was a great read. I can't believe I finished it in a weekend. Just got lost in the moment.

These are the days of little books, and when the author was asked to add one to their number, he accepted the invitation with the jaunty simplicity of an inexperienced hand, thinking that it could not give him much trouble to expand or otherwise modify the account given of early Britain in larger works; but closer acquaintance with them soon convinced him of the folly of such a plan - he had to study the subject for himself or leave it alone. In trying to do the former he probably read enough to have enabled him to write a larger work than this; but he would be ashamed to confess how long it has occupied him.

As a student of language, he is well aware that no severer judgment could be passed on his essay in writing history than that it should be found to be as bad as the etymologies made by historians are wont to be; but so essential is the study of Celtic names to the elucidation of the early history of Britain that the risk is thought worth incurring.

Dated but good

This book, the pinnacle of scholarship in its day, was thorough in its scholarship and asked the focal questions. More importantly, it answered them with as much research and open-mindedness as possible. When I read through the book, I did not find what I was looking for, but I had in my mind a better idea what I should be looking for - much more than when I read more current books by more modern scholars. Rhys gave me the approach I needed for the Arthurian stories in this book; its pertinence one hundred years later is evidence enough of its quality.
